Jay Sher DDS, FAGD, FACD

Dr. Sher loves being a dentist! His professional career has been an extremely rewarding experience of helping patients feel and look their best. Providing the finest dental care available while utilizing the latest advances in dental technology has been a winning formula to consistently achieve great and long lasting results both cosmetically and in routine dental care.

Success does not just happen. Dr. Sher has taken advanced training, possesses superior clinical proficiency and experience yet he continues to hone his skills by frequently attending continuing education courses to keep up with the latest advances in dentistry. He has also lectured on a variety of topics both nationally and internationally and authored or coauthored dozens of articles which have appeared in dental journals. Dr. Sher has contributed a chapter for a dental implant textbook and holds a patent for an implant placement device. He has been active in organized dentistry and has been an officer in several professional dental organizations over the years.

Dr. Sher attended the University of Connecticut and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a minor in biology. He was selected as the recipient of the University's ECAC Merit Award which is given to the scholar-athlete, having lettered on the track team which he captained during his senior year. Dr. Sher then earned his dental degree at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine where he was Class President, Editor of the school newspaper, Co-Editor of the yearbook and recipient of the alumni award.

Dr. Sher completed the general practice residency program at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and then continued for an additional year at the hospital with the Fellowship in Oral Implantology. He also participated part time with the oral pathology program at Catholic Medical Center in Queens. Dr. Sher was an associate attending on staff at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center and part of the implant team that did much of the cutting edge research on dental implants. Dr. Sher returned back to New Jersey in 1980 and was on staff at several local hospitals and was director of general dentistry for the residency program at the Hospital Center of Orange for many years.

Dr. Sher has been honored to be listed in both editions of Castle Connally's guides, "America's Cosmetic Doctors and Dentists" and "America's Top Doctors". He has been selected to be listed in the "Guide to America's Top Dentists" by SLD Industries, Inc. Dr. Sher is also listed in Who's Who in Executives and Professionals and the Global Directory and National Register's Who's Who. He is active member of the many professional dental associations including the American Dental Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the New Jersey Dental Association. Dr. Sher is on executive board of the Essex County Dental Society and is now serving his term as the vice president while on the arbitration and peer review committee and an alternate ADA delegate. He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists, Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, Certified by the Academy of Laser Dentistry, active with the New Jersey Sleep Society and American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Most importantly, Dr. Sher enjoys spending time with his family. He adores his wife Geri and his three daughters Lauren, Alyssa, Emily and his son-in-law Jared.
